Rivers commits to LSU!
Months of unofficial visits, a summer spent at football camps on campuses of some of the top programs in the country, Athens High School quarterback Stephen Rivers is headed to LSU!
On Friday, the younger brother of current San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers made a verbal commitment to play football for Bengals Tigers.
"I went down for a visit a couple of weeks ago and was able to work with the coaches and really enjoyed it. They've got top notch facilities and it was a place that jumped out at me. After they got back with me, a few days ago and made the offer, I decided it was the best place for me."
Rivers is rated a three-star quarterback by recruiting sites such as scout.com and rivals.com. He passed for 2,200 yards and 23 touchdowns as he guided the Golden Eagles to the second round of the playoffs his junior season.
According to Rivers, he had offers from 10 other schools. He added that he's glad to get the recruiting process off his shoulders.
"I'm glad I got it done before the season starts." Rivers said. "I'm ready to put all my focus on Athens."
